Traffic slow down alert: Upcoming demonstration
ACORN Canada, an organization for low income housing, will be demonstrating from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17.
The demonstration will start at the corner of Elgin and Lisgar Streets, near the Human Rights Monument. Marches will be monitored by police and be restricted to the following streets:
- Wellington Street between Elgin Street and Parliament Hill (Metcalfe Street entrance);
- Wellington Street between Metcalfe Street and Booth Street;
- Booth Street between Wellington Street and the Canadian War Museum (Vimy Place Private);
- Booth Street between Vimy Place Private and Albert Street;
- Albert Street between Booth Street and Rochester Street;
- Rochester Street between Albert Street and Raymond Street;
- Raymond Street/Catherine Street between Rochester Street and Bank Street;
- Bank Street between Catherine Street and McLeod Street;
- McLeod Street between Bank Street and Elgin Street;
- Elgin Street between McLeod Street and Laurier Avenue;
- Laurier Avenue between Elgin Street and Ottawa City Hall;
- Laurier Avenue between Ottawa City Hall and Elgin Street;
- Elgin Street between Laurier Avenue and Albert Street;
- Albert Street between Elgin Street and Bank Street;
- Bank Street between Albert Street and Queen Street;
- Queen Street between Bank Street and Slater Street;
- Slater Street between Queen Street and Elgin Street, and
- Elgin Street between Slater Street and the Human Rights Monument.
The march will not obstruct pedestrian traffic or convey on private property.
