Does my Bank Street Gift Card ever expire?
The funds on the Bank Street Gift Card never expire. However, after 16 months of inactivity the gift card will deduct a non-refundable $2.50 per month dormancy fee from any remaining balance. For fraud management purposes, the physical plastic card may be rendered unusable after 18 months. If the card becomes unusable with a remaining amount, you may present and exchange the unusable card at no charge for a replacement Card that will be activated in the amount remaining on the Card at the time of the exchange. To exchange an unusable card, please contact Bank Street BIA (613) 232-6255. The Dormancy Fee, described on the Schedule of Bank Fees, will be assessed through the date when a replacement Card is issued.
Can I redeem my gift card for cash?
Bank Street Gift Cards are non-refundable and may not be redeemed for cash at anytime.
Where can I use my Bank Street Gift Card?
Your Bank Street Gift Card may be used for making purchases at participating Bank Street shops, services or restaurants. Your Bank Street Gift Card cannot be used or applied as payment to any account or loan.
Can I place a tip on my Bank Street Gift Card?
The Bank Street Gift Card may not be used to pay for tips or other gratuities.
Can I purchase a Bank Street Gift Card online?
Bank Street Gift Cards may be purchased online. All gift cards are sent via Canada Post. We are happy to ship gift cards directly to you or to your selected recipient(s). You may also pick up your order at the Bank Street BIA office, 176 Gloucester Street, Suite 204. Gift Cards are available in any denominations from $5 up to $500.

How do I use the Bank Street Gift Card?
First, check to see if the store accepts The Bank Street Gift Card. Then, let the store associate know you are using the Bank Street Gift Card before they start to ring in your purchase. Stores will need to know the balance on your Bank Street Gift Card. Once the purchase is complete, check the approval code on your receipt to see your latest card balance. The amount will read with an X in place of the decimal point. Example 58X17 = $58.17
What if I want to spend more than the card value?
The Bank Street Gift Card can usually be combined with another form of payment to complete a purchase. Be sure to notify the cashier before they process your purchase. Please note that some stores are not able to do a split payment transaction.
What happens if my Bank Street Gift Card is lost or stolen?
Notify the Bank Street BIA as soon as possible. Lost or stolen gift cards may not be replaced without adequate proof of purchase (original gift card receipt), and the corresponding gift card number. Please treat the Bank Street Gift Card as cash, if it is lost or stolen there is the possibility of the card being used by someone other than yourself. We are not able to restore funds to the Bank Street Gift Card at anytime.
How do I keep track of my balance?
You can check your gift card balance at www.getmybalance.com, by calling 1-800-755-0085, or take your Bank Street Gift Card into the Bank Street BIA Office for assistance. You can also write in your latest balance in the space provided on the back of the card. As well, when you use your Bank Street Gift Card, the approval code at the bottom of your receipt represents your remaining balance. Example 58X17 = $58.17. Keep this handy for your next transaction.
What if I want to return items purchased with my Bank Street Gift Card?
Depending on the retailer’s return policy, Bank Street BIA members will give store credit for returns.
Is the Bank Street BIA website the only location I can purchase a Bank Street Gift Card?
No, The Bank Street BIA office located at 176 Gloucester Street, Suite 204, Ottawa, Ontario at the corner of Bank & Gloucester also sells the gift cards. Gift card hours are Monday – Friday 9am-5pm,
