Pride Events - All Week on Bank Street!

Pride Week on Bank Street!

The Bank Street B.I.A is a proud sponsor of this year’s Ottawa Capital Pride Festival. The programming begins on August 21st at Ottawa City Hall for the official flag raising, and continues until Sunday, August 27th with the Pride Parade down Bank Street. A full listing of the events can be found at

The theme for Capital Pride 2017 is "Just Be". “Ottawa Capital Pride is intended to be a welcoming and safe space for everyone,” says Tammy Dopson, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Our theme celebrates the individual experience of all who attend our festival, as well as Pride as a place to celebrate our community’s diversity.” The theme “Just Be” recognizes the journeys individuals have and the journey shared as a community.

Another exciting part of this year’s Ottawa Capital Pride is the Village Legacy Project, in partnership with the Bank Street B.I.A. The Village Legacy Project works to assemble a historical perspective on the LGBTQ community of Ottawa with references to champions of the movement locally, nationally and internationally.

The perspective speaks largely to the City-wide movement, activities, milestones, landmarks etc. and the role of Bank Street during these times recognizing that these have culminated from worldwide activities. The official launch for this project is August 22nd at Wallack Galleries. You can RSVP to attend the event by going to the "Events" section of our site.

The Ottawa Capital Pride organization’s mission is to create an environment for advocacy, education, and the fostering of a strong and vibrant LGBTQ community within the Nation’s Capital region. For more information, please check the Ottawa Capital Pride website at
